Avli is a modern geometric quilt pattern inspired by open courtyards, clean architectural lines, and repeating shapes. “Avli” is the Greek word for courtyard - a fitting name for the open centers and interlocking geometric design featured in this design.
This 30″ × 30″ edition is designed as a quilted wall hanging, but it is also the perfect size for a modern table topper. Display it on a dining table, coffee table, entryway table, or anywhere you would like to add color, texture, and a handmade touch.
The pattern uses traditional piecing techniques and is written for advanced beginners and experienced quilters alike. Detailed instructions and clear diagrams guide you through cutting, block construction, quilt assembly, and finishing.
A complete quilt-facing tutorial is included. Unlike traditional binding, a facing turns completely to the back of the quilt, creating a clean edge that allows the design to remain the focus. The upper corner triangles may also be left open to hold a hanging dowel.
Avli works beautifully with solids, prints, woven fabrics, or a combination of all three. Choose bold contrast for a striking graphic look, or use soft neutrals and muted colors for a calm, modern finish.
